Information Needed to Donate a Vehicle to Autoministry Inc
If you wish to donate a vehicle; please contact us to help streamline the process before continuing. While we accept donations of cars, we do not solicit those donations.
Autoministry needs the following information to complete Form 1098-c needed to allow you to be able to deduct your vehicle donation on your taxes..
Your complete name and street address as shown on your Form 1040
Your SSN
The date of the donation
The odometer reading, year, make, model, and VIN number.
To file your taxes, you will need the following information for Form 8283 and possibly for Form 8282 if the vehicle is then given to one of Autoministrys’ qualified needy individuals, and if you will be claiming a donated value of over $500.00
The date you acquired the vehicle
How did you acquire the vehicle?
Your cost or adjusted basis
Fair market value
How that value was determined? (usually by KBB private party sales value)
If the value is over $5000.00, the vehicle will need an appraisal. Autoministry will work closely with you to ensure that Form 8283 will be accurate and complete.
